July 4th Minus the Beach and Fireworks

July is usually a month filled with beach trips, fireworks, and birthday celebrations, but this year is a little different. Since we are way too far away from our family to celebrate with them, our new friends, the Woodworth's invited us to their 4th of July "BBQ" (or cookout as we call it on the east coast). It was great! We went over to Kimberly's mom and dad's place around 2, and they had a kiddie pool, an adult pool, and lots of amazing food. Maddox had a great time playing with their 2 year old son, Jett (aka his new best friend). They switched off pushing the toy lawnmower and a stroller with a soccer ball in it most of the time. They played in the kiddie pool and sand box a bit too, but the most fun Maddox had all day was when he got to shoot water in the big pool with Kim's brother in law. I wish I had a picture. Unfortunately, I was so occupied with making sure that my kids didn't drown that I missed out on most of the photo ops. Oh well, I have to get the hang of this whole "having two children under two" thing soon, right?
Here is Beckett in his "O SO CUTE" red, white, and blue outfit that Aunt Joan sent him, but he had a blow out on the way to the festivities. I managed to get these pictures of him, and I am sorry that they are on his changing mat. No one really wanted to hold him up for me with poop all up his back. Oh the joys of having a newborn! lol

So it was Kim's grandfather's birthday, and they had cake and ice cream. I need to explain that we have been really talking up birthdays to Maddox since his is coming up on July 10th. Anyway, I really think that Maddox thought that the cake and singing was for him. His face lit up, and he kind of got this proud look on his face. He couldn't stop smiling. I mean he ALWAYS gets excited about dessert, but this was a little different. You can see the progression of his excitement in these photos.
Yes, that is my boy. He pushed that old man out of the way and stood right in front of  "his" cake.

Here is my crew!

The one shot I got of Maddox and Jett all day, and they wouldn't even look at the camera.
