I had never been to the circus (that I know of or remember) until TODAY! I am so glad that I have children now and get to do all of these fun things. A friend and neighbor of ours who has a one year old little boy asked us if we wanted to go with them to the Circus because they had free tickets. "Yes please!" was our reply.
Here is Adrienne (said neighbor) and her son Alex! Alex really was excited to be there, I promise!
Beckett and a very excited Mama at our first Circus! Look at the wonder in his eyes or is that fear? I can't tell. Let's face it, this is not a good photo of either of us, but I am usually taking the pictures and am not in any of them. This was one of TWO photos that I made it into this go round. I take what I can get.
Maddox and Alex enjoying the sensory overload. My boy did pretty well considering we couldn't get him to take a nap before the trip.
By this point in the show, my cheeks were sore from smiling. It was sooooo much fun and neat to see all of this. Although I have to admit I am an animal lover, and the thought of what these animals may or may not go through in order to perform did creep into my mind a few times.
The elephants and lions (which turned out to only be tigers) were what Maddox came to see. That boy loves some "yions" and (insert arm/trunk motion and elephant sound here).
He was obviously in awe at this particular moment! He kept saying "wow!"
Who doesn't love a clown?
Daddy and Maddox taking it all in. I have to say that this was right before Maddox sat in his own seat and proceded to turn around and persuade a VERY nice man behind us to give him a cookie. We definitely have a little charmer on our hands. I wonder where he got that from...hmmm. :)
I couldn't get a good shot of these enormous tigers, but they were beautiful and terrifying all at the same time. I was sure that at any moment they were going to snatch that nice man's head right off of his head, but thankfully, they let him live another day.
There are no clever words to describe these acrobats. They were amazing. As were the tight rope walkers/bicyclists/acrobats who would not stay still long enough for me to get a good shot of their talent. To someone who is deathly afraid of heights, these people are amazing and almost superhuman.
I am with Maddox; the elephants are my favorite too!
The little charmer trying to get himself a souvenir....
The second shot that proves Beckett and his mama were there. Maddox, once again, begging.
Here he is with his prize! He called it a baby elephant. I guess because it is so small compared to the beasts he had just seen.
From start to finish, we all had an amazing time. The toddlers were very well behaved as long as we kept them fed, and Beckett slept most of the time. A few things that you don't see in these pictures: a man being lit on fire and shot across the arena (wasn't expecting that one), some beautiful horses that pranced around in circles for a while, some 400 lb. guys that could lift anything including each other, and $8 popcorn!
